Excelsia College

Appointed with the task of design and fitout, Nickaz came on board with Bluestone Capital and Excelsia College to help them with the enormous task of relocating the college to Macquarie Park.

The project included various stages of works, with the two critical including the upgrading of the existing building to a compliant commercial code, then upgrading it again to a compliant educational facility code. Major works were undertaken to the fire, hydraulics, mechanical and electrical services throughout the project.

The internal build works included integrating existing fitout with the new requirements of the college, creating a number of new lecture rooms, smaller classrooms, breakout facilities and back of house staff areas which included offices, workstations and a staff kitchen. Bathroom facilities were re-vamped and upgraded to current DDA.

The library was situated in a part office, part warehouse area, where a modern semi-industrial theme was adopted to create a unique study space for students.

In the warehouse area, a number of music rooms – large classrooms and small practise rooms were built. All walls were upgraded with acoustic insulation and plasterboard to help with the noise of the music students and the rest of the students. On the other side, the colleges main assembly space was created, a theatre style set up for both meetings and drama students. The space included various storage rooms, retractable tiered seating, AV rigging, stage and theatre curtains.

The total project was completed in 3 major stages over a 4 month on-site period.
